Fast Charge Monadnock
Campaign Introduction:
Fast Charge Monadnock aims to lower greenhouse gases and increase regional sustainable living by investing in electric vehicle infrastructure. Stepping into the clean emissions future today requires investment in electric vehicle charging – specifically fast EV charging stations. Join us in bringing the first EV fast charger to the region, located at the Monadnock Food Co-op, and enable local and thoroughfare electric vehicle charging while enabling these zero emission vehicles to multiply on our roadways, reduce our regional vehicle greenhouse gas emissions, and increase our regional sustainability.

Campaign Story
Fast Charge Monadnock has an anonymous donor match until the end of the campaign! Donate $25 and your donation is doubled to $50! Double your impact and know that your dollars are will work to build an EV economy in the region while providing cleaner air and transportation.
The Monadnock Food Co-op is integral to so many lives in Keene, NH and the surrounding Monadnock Region. It is not only a place to shop but also a place to meet and hang out or drop by for a cool drink, an anchor of our downtown region.
But, the Co-op is so much more, since 2013 it has taken on a new charge, looking toward the future and investing renewable energy. It is a model business in the city that prides itself on sustainability. That is why it is no surprise that the Monadnock Energy Hub (MEH) an initiative of the Monadnock Sustainability Network (MSN) is teaming up again this year with the Co-op to bring an EV Charging station with a DC Fast Charger to the new Co-op expansion plans.
The thing is – fast chargers are costly and MEH/MSN & the Co-op need the community to invest their dollars as well to make this a reality. We’re asking you to join us in this movement to put Keene on the map for fast charging and open the door of possibilities that can occur when a city has a fast charging station located in their downtown shopping region.
What's a fast charger?
For those who might not know a DC fast charger means charging for fully electric vehicles while parked at the Co-op for typically 20-40 minutes. There will also be a space for hybrid EV charging too. And don’t worry the expansion brings extra parking spaces too!
So, what does this mean for Keene as a city?
It means that EV drivers will now see Keene as a destination for charging. They will stop to charge; spend time at the Co-op or shop on Main Street while their car charges. This means more possibility for sales for the shops, the Co-op, and being a destination that could even draw more cars to make a return visit to our vibrant and beautiful area once they stop by to charge.
But it's not just about increased commerce and being on the EV apps, the area will be supporting regional EV drivers that need to top off before heading out for the weekend or going to visit friends and family. Whatever the reason, a fast charger will change the EV landscape in the Monadnock Region, and let visitors and residents alike know in Keene the future has arrived.
If additional funds are secured, these funds will be added to the Monadnock Sustainability Network funds to promote regional EV station programs in the Monadnock Region.

2020 Project Update
Mary Ewell and John Kondos from Monadnock Sustainability Network raised over $10,800 to help bring an electric vehicle fast charger to the Monadnock Food Co-op in Keene. These funds will meet the Volkswagen Restitution grant match requirement when they apply in late January.
“By adding fast charging, we establish Keene as an oasis in the NH EV charging desert,” said John. “A fast charger can provide 80-100% charging for electric vehicles, while parked at the co-op, in under 30 minutes… These fast chargers will change the EV landscape in the Monadnock Region, and let visitors and residents alike know in Keene the future has arrived.”
