Reminding yourself why this movement matters: Why Care About Independent, Locally Owned Businesses?
“The social fabric of a community is tightly coupled with the health of its independent businesses. Research has shown that communities with a larger share of local businesses have more social capital, stronger social ties, higher levels of civic engagement, and better success solving problems.”~ Institute for Local Self Reliance

One More Week -- And $400 To Go!
Thanks again for all your support for our Plaid Friday, Cider Monday & More crowdfunding campaign. We need to wrap up our crowdfunding effort this week, so we can turn our attention to this year’s Shop Indie Local campaign. I’m thrilled to be working at a national level this year to make our community’s holiday Buy Local efforts stronger and help other communities do the same.
With the funds we’ve raised so far, we will:
Bring Plaid Friday Photo Booths to two locally owned businesses (one in Keene and Peterborough)
Host a Plaid Friday Launch Party with the Savings Bank of Walpole
Place Plaid Friday and Cider ads in the Monadnock Shopper News. Keene Sentinel and Monadnock Ledger Transcript
The final $400 we need to raise will allow us to purchase radio ad spots and pay for promotional supplies to help better spread the word throughout our region. We still have some great rewards left, so please feel free to snag them! : )
Again, THANK YOU!
Best, Jen Risley

TOGETHER, We Did It!
We reached our crowdfunding goal, thanks to all of you!
And right on the day that this year’s Shop Indie Local initiative begins.
We can now turn our attention to the goal of this funding, to inspire more people to join the local economy movement. Together, we’re generating ripple effects that create new jobs, charitable contributions and community prosperity!
Hope you all had an incredible week — and please stay connected to our efforts.
Yours locally, Jen Risley

Pay-It-Forward and Fuel Our Local Living Economy
Happy New Year! And thank you for supporting The Local Crowd Monadnock. Here’s another opportunity to help us grow our impact in 2021.
We invite you to support our TLC Monadnock Pay-It-Forward Program by contributing $25 or more to our crowdfunding campaign.
Since launching our community-based crowdfunding program in 2017, we’ve raised over $230,000 from 2,000 supporters for twenty-six campaigns. We’re excited to leverage TLC Monadnock to grow more and stronger locally owned businesses.
The Pay-It-Forward fund will allow us to provide extra support and resources to campaigns aligned with our 2021 community priorities. These priorities include recruiting campaigns connected to the top 3 results of our Local Living Economy Building Blocks poll:
Affordable Housing
Farms & Local Food
Living Wage Jobs & Equity
While campaign teams may be rich in social capital, they may need access to additional resources such as business consultants, videographers and marketing tools to ensure the success of their crowdfunding campaign. We will identify each campaign team’s specific needs through a pre-assessment survey and provide extra resources to fill in the team’s most critical gaps. We will also use our Pay-It-Forward fund to match donations for crowdfunding campaigns aligned with our 2021 community priorities. In 2021, our goal is to raise at least $100,000 from 1,000 supporters for 10 campaigns. You can help make this happen by supporting our Pay-It-Forward program today.
Thank you for considering this invitation and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
Best, Jen
PS: Please share our crowdfunding campaign with your friends and family! Thank you!
